Working in a range of mediums, from oil to acrylic, or watercolour to pastel, Simon Hodges aims to reflect an atmospheric sense of place, inspired by light, weather and location.

'Exploring tone for the finished work again helps to tell the story about the subject. High tones can express ethereal light, brightness or vagueness; dark tones, a sombre, moody and gloomy atmosphere. The range of light to dark is about contrast, definition, highlights and shadow.

We visit Norfolk regularly for the big skies, light, water and a landscape that has a sense of little changing from earlier, slower times.'
