From the Artist: Frances Bell RP ROI
8th May 2025
Frances was born in 1983 and raised in Suffolk, UK. After developing a childhood interest in drawing, and pursuing art and art history at school, she made her way to a classical training at Charles. H. Cecil Studios, Florence in 2001 for three years of study. After completing her training, Bell maintained a connection with the Art School by teaching there from 2005 to 2011.
'A painting is a testament to the collaboration of artist, subject and circumstances arising. The result of this all too human effort can be so rich and unique - a thing to understand fully in the flesh. A good painting fills out a niche within a space, altering the mood around it.'
Frances now lives in North Northumberland with her husband and two children; her time is spent completing commissioned portraiture and landscape work. She is a member of the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Society of Women Artists, and the Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
