The local fish restaurant had dumped an huge pile of Whitstable Oyster shells at the back of the beach on the seafront. This flock of Turnstones were busily picking through them for left overs.

I flushed a big female sparrowhawk from a wood pigeon kill at the back off the garden and she dashed off through the wild flower meadow which this year is full of wild carrot flower heads.

It's made with Ashram Hanna stoneware clay fired to 1250C. She's called a Polo Toucan as the eyes are made with a Polo mint pressed into the clay (it was exactly the right size)
